Clinical practice guidelines exist for specific contexts and pathologies. However, bioethical dilemmas regarding the allocation of healthcare resources are also fundamental to patient care. Yet, these dilemmas are not addressed in any significant way in the various guidelines. This paper proposes creating bioethical guidelines for resource allocation to accompany each clinical practice guideline. These guidelines would serve not only as tools for use during health emergencies, but daily.
