Scientific progress requires constant updating; however, various factors hinder scientific advancement within the bioethical framework that should govern such development. As new technologies, medical breakthroughs and improvements in existing techniques emerge, bioethical challenges also arise that must be addressed and resolved. However, this progress is insufficient if society persists in ignoring the consequences of its actions. It is essential to consider the role of health and environmental institutions in the monitoring, regulation, and control of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), as well as of all those involved in environmental protection. AMR directly impacts on human health, generating significant public health problems.
