Gaceta CONBIOÉTICA is the scientific communication organ of the National Bioethics Commission. Its purpose is to contribute to the study of Bioethics as a disciplinary field and analytical tool, in the context of scientific progress and the development and impact of emerging technologies in the spheres of life, health and the environment, as well as to incorporate into the public agenda the social debate, with an evidence-based, secular, inclusive and interdisciplinary approach, which promotes respect for human rights. It is a biannual publication, open access (open at no cost to authors and readers), peer-reviewed, published in electronic version and accepts manuscripts for evaluation in Spanish or English.

The social communication of Bioethics has been a priority issue for the National Bioethics Commission, since its creation as a decentralized body of the Ministry of Health in 1992. In this sense, the edition of publications has become one of the most relevant activities, an example of this is the Gaceta CONBIOÉTICA  which, since its first appearance in 2011, has given account of the institutional commitment to disseminate, periodically and uninterruptedly, valuable content on Bioethics. This editorial background has allowed it to be established at present as an organ of scientific communication of Bioethics, with the relevance of contributing to its development as a field of knowledge and as a tool for analysis in its applied dimension. In this way, the Gaceta CONBIOÉTICA  seeks to meet the required standards of professionalism, as well as editorial and scientific quality, in addition to achieving broad visibility, in accordance with the demands of the national and international context.

As a fundamental aspect, this publication makes an important contribution to the fulfillment of the National Bioethics Commission's objective of "promoting the creation of a bioethical culture in the Mexican State, fostering an attitude of reflection, deliberation and multidisciplinary and multisectorial discussion of issues related to human health, and developing ethical standards for health care, research and teaching". The above, based on the institutional conception of Bioethics, understood as "the branch of applied ethics that reflects, deliberates and makes normative and public policy approaches, to regulate and resolve conflicts that occur in social life, especially in the fields of science that deal with the study of living beings, as well as in medical practice and research that affect life on the planet, both now and in future generations", and the importance of promoting a constructive dialogue on issues related to Bioethics, to establish forms of coexistence that are widely accepted.
